Renegade Network Marketer - The Truth About Cats And Network Marketing Sunday, Jul 6 2008

What do cats and pre-selling have in common? Well, nothing directly related however, I recently discovered that our feline friends can teach us a thing or two about pre-selling and how powerful it is in network marketing.
When the Renegade Marketer first made an impact in 2007 attraction marketing and pre-selling were a little foreign to most network marketers. After all, the general rule of thumb was to hit your prospect first up with your offer straight after you tackle them about a business opportunity.
Not very attractive marketing and the results speak for themselves – more than 90% of MLMers quit their business within the first three months.
Pre-selling And Cats
Recently, my appetite for pre-selling was further satisfied from a most unlikely source…a cat. His name is TJ and my brush with him was an answer to a prayer.
Having moved into a new home several months ago it wasn’t long before we had a strange visitor suddenly show up in the shape of a cat.
It was TJ and he was obviously lost. He seemed to like the surroundings of our backyard and decided to make himself at home but kept his distance from us.
I began putting some food out for him and when there was no one around, he helped himself to it. He was still in the kitten stage and I wanted to get closer to him.
Hmmm…I then wondered whether I should put the food out there more sparingly. So for several days I would feed him bits and pieces, just enough for him to get more interested.
It wasn’t long before he would sit at the back door and peer into our home wondering where his meal was. This is when I started to coax him towards me with food in my hand and for several days, it was going nowhere.
But gradually, his desire for food got the better of him and bit by bit he would get closer until eventually, he took the food from my hand.
As he was eating it, I even managed to pat him on the head a couple of times and he seemed to enjoy it.
Finally, my pre-selling tactic of providing him with the value in the food paid off and the magic of the presell was seen to advantage again.
I Had A “Business Partner” For Life
It took a couple of months but my point is, by providing TJ with value (the food) as a total stranger from the beginning, I actually pre-sold him on the idea I was someone he could rely on and that comes down to earning his trust.
Yes, I didn’t know it at the time but I was getting a strong lesson in pre-selling. It’s the same when you attract prospects into your funnel the Renegade Marketer way. It’s what you do in the lead up to your sales pitch which matters.
The more I think about it the more I’m convinced that pre-selling is compulsory to maintaining a solid foundation in your network marketing business.
Studying the techniques of pre-selling should be on your to do list if you’re really serious about mastering the art of pre-selling.
In inter-network marketing, it’s vital if you’re using the attraction marketing and pre-selling model outlined by Ann Sieg in the Renegade Marketer and if you’re not, then you’re missing out big time.
